A team of six (6) physicians from Manila Central University (MCU) headed by Dr. Anita Villarte, Chair of the Board of Optometry, treated over 150 parishioners mostly from the depressed areas of the parish. All were given free quality eye glasses. Eye glass frames were donated by “Physicians for Peace” through the effort of Vice-President Manny Regio.
Guest Doctors were treated to a luncheon and were presented Certificates of Appreciation by HNS Officers Ricky Cano, Secretary Rene Pronstroller, and VP Manny Regio witnessed by some members who helped supervise the proceedings. The Unit President is Bro. Steve Hontiveros, who at the time of the project was abroad on official business.
Actual fitting and distribution of completed eye glasses took place on Dec. 13, 1009 at 10:30 AM, after the HNS Monthly Meeting in the presence of the volunteer physicians.

The Holy Name Society in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine Parish in New Manila, Quezon City, sponsored a free eye clinic-consultation and check-up last November 14, 2009 at the Fr. Mark Horan Hall, from 9:00 am up to 1:00 pm.
